As much as I think falling in love is silly... I also believe it to be true. Just not for me. If you think about it. Every chick flick and romance novel we watch and read sets up the preconceptions on how love is supposed to be. Then we start thinking love happens at this age, at this time, in this way, and he better be like (insert characteristic). These things are fun to watch... but every person has a different love story. Not one love story is the same as the other. There is just something about the movies that are annoying. They are repetitive and totally predictable. Now... before you start yelling "WHAT?! IS SHE INSANE?! LOVE IS THE BEST THING EVER!" I also would have to say that I agree with you. Because love is a wonderful thing.
I think that people have taken love and misused the term... and have beaten the tar out of it.. "I love tacos" (I am guilty of this!) "I just love Josie!" "I love that band!" "I think I have just fallen in love!". These are all fine and dandy... but stop for a second. Think about how big a word LOVE is. Love is a declaration that you would do anything and everything for one person. (or multiple people if you have a family). That you would not want to see anything bad happen to this person. And if they are suffering, so are you. (And lets just say... eating tacos... harmful for them I would think!) Its not something that happens over night. It is something built and something that might get scratched or hurt... but its there. And its strong, even if you are mad at said person. Love doesn't just disapear because you are angry at someone. Love makes you miss that person when you are angry at them. Love helps forgive that person, and rebuild that relationship. Lately I have noticed that love is tossed out the window because of the silliest things. It makes me wonder... did that couple really love eachother? Now.. don't get me wrong. There are very legitimate reasons to leave someone. If they are abusive, that is when you have to leave, even if it hurts more than anything. But, I have heard of stories where people leave eachother for pettiness, such as toothpaste or getting a pet.
When I think of love, I think of something that can't be bought, or lost, or forgotten. Something that is stronger than time itself. I think of love as, well, it's like this. Jesus died for us, cause he loved us. I think that is the biggest declaration of love there could ever be! I am not saying, you have to die for your spouse to show love. Just, you know, work things out, buy them flowers or play video games with them!
Love is timeless. Think about all the old couples that have been married over fifty years. They worked hard to stay together, and it is obvious they love each other! So stop reading this and spend some time with your loved one! :)
